There it stood, my path to freedom.
“Foolish boy!” glared my step-mother, from the doorway. “Your father gave you that Edsel, and this is what you did to it? He would turn over in his grave.”
Wait and see, you she-demon! I thought. She didn’t register it, having turned away angrily.
Getting into my car, I started her up, and roared straight at the house, lifting it into the air.
“What are you doing?” screamed my step-mom, appearing again at the door, now nine feet off the ground.
“Wait and see,” I said, calmly.
My Edsel’s excavator began its work.

P.S. For some reason, I seem to have horrid family members in my stories (or at least, for the previous week’s prompt, and now this one) — and, despite the fact that I run the risk of “methinks she doth protest too much,” I have to say that I am deeply grateful to, and thankful for, my family, for being so wonderful. This second story was written was written at my nine year old daughter’s enthusiastic behest (needless to say, she really liked my last, rather insane, take on the prompt, wherein the protagonist marries his car).
P.S. I have to add the following comment below after reading some people’s reactions:
I hasten to add here, that my daughter HAS NOT read the above story yet, nor did she know WHAT I was going to write. She just wanted me to write another story based on the same prompt, because she’s seen me do so before. After she left the room, I wrote the story above. I don’t intend to show it to her (unless she asks, in which case, I’ll have to prepare her for my evil mind).
Thanks, Rochelle Wisoff-Fields, and Jean L. Hays, the first being our Fairy Blog-Mother, who hosts Friday Fictioneers, and the second for the photograph above!
Thanks for reading, y’all!

I Married Her

I was a broken man, and I was broke. My wife had left. I missed being loved.
One day, impelled by a whim, I awoke, and went to my car.
“Love me,” whispered Edsel-la. I looked at her then, saw her true soul, and fell in love.
I whispered sweet nothings into her carburetor, and stroked her yellow-painted cheeks.
She told me to make some changes, promising me untold wealth if I followed her instructions.
Laugh at me if you will. I did her bidding. I’m not broke anymore.
Tomorrow, my car and I are going to get married.

For some reason, I couldn’t get the InLinkz script to make a link to the other stories, and share the code. I guess it now needs us to log in. Please help, someone (do I need to make an InLinkz account, Friday Fictioneers?).
In any case, thanks to Rochelle Wisoff-Fields for sharing this strange and interesting photo-prompt for this week’s Friday Fictioneers (an online writing community that writes flash-fiction based on photo-prompts — for the uninitiated who might be reading my blog) . I did the best I could in my 100-word story. Hope you like it!
